What affects the cost of a website in Sri Lanka
Quotes for websites vary widely, from a simple template site to a large custom platform, and the difference is rarely arbitrary. It follows a handful of decisions you can make before you ask anyone for a price.
Size and structure
The number of distinct page types matters more than the number of pages. Ten service pages that share one layout cost far less than ten pages that each need their own design.
Custom design or a proven base
A design built for your brand takes longer than one adapted from a proven base. Neither is wrong. A base gets you live sooner and costs less. Custom design is worth paying for when your brand is a large part of why customers choose you.
Features that need logic
Static pages are the cheapest part of a project. Anything that remembers something is not: user accounts, bookings, quotes, payments, search and filters. Each one needs design, build and testing, and each one adds ongoing maintenance.
Content
Someone has to write the words and prepare the photographs. If you supply them ready, the project is faster. If the studio writes and photographs, that is a separate line on the quote.
Integrations and languages
Payment gateways, courier services, accounting software and CRM connections are each a piece of work. So is every additional language, because layout and fonts have to be checked for each one.
Hosting, domain and support
Running costs continue after launch: hosting, domain renewal and support. Ask for them as a monthly or yearly figure so you can budget for them from the start.
How to get comparable quotes
Describe the pages, features, languages and integrations you need in one document and send the same document to every studio. Our estimate questionnaire does this for you. Answer a few questions and it produces an itemised range in rupees that you can compare with any other quote.
